patrimonialism
Patrimonialism is a form of governance in which all power flows directly from the leader. This system is characterized by the leader’s personal control over the state and its resources, often treating the state as their personal property. In patrimonial systems, political authority is based on personal loyalty and relationships rather than formal institutions or legal-rational authority. This often leads to nepotism, favoritism, and corruption, as positions of power and resources are distributed based on personal connections rather than merit or legal frameworks. Patrimonialism is often contrasted with modern bureaucratic states, where authority is based on legal-rational principles and institutionalized rules.
“Tawdry” is an adjective used to describe something that is showy or gaudy but of poor quality. It often implies a lack of taste or sophistication, suggesting that the item or behavior is flashy or ostentatious yet cheap or vulgar. The term can be applied to physical objects, such as clothing or jewelry, as well as to actions or behaviors that are considered morally or socially lowbrow. The word has its origins in the 17th century, derived from “Saint Audrey’s lace,” which was a type of cheap lace sold at fairs.

but really i was trying to ask what role deception plays in business….. becuase people knowing your intentions can do all sorts of things and misdirection seems to be a key insight that i have not considered enough…. not that i want to employ it …. i would be disheartened if it cannot be avoided
